Movie Stars Syndrome – Pt 1

Why is it that we place so much value on people like movie stars, rock stars and top sport people?

Pick your most respected star, lets say Oprah Winfrey and imagine her coming to your place for dinner, how does it feel?

Does it bring up anxiousness from having to impress her (i.e. to be worthy of receiving her in your home, that is to say, you don’t feel worthy)?

Or, Do you feel proud that such a popular person you is associated with you? In other words, does it bring up feelings of being “better” than other people because associating with a highly respected person “makes” you a respected person also?

In general, most people will have one of these two feelings, either a feeling of worthlessness or a feeling of superiority.

Very few people can genuinely relate with a beggar and a rock star with complete equality.

The question is why?
