When the Student is Ready… – Pt 2
Another example of the teacher appearing when the student is ready is from people that get the Mindfulness Series. I often get emails where people say that they received an article from me that was exactly what they needed to hear at exactly the right time.
Does it mean that I’ve done anything in particular? No, they created the opening themselves and allowed the words to find them.
It just looks like they “luckily” happened to be somewhere at the right time. No need for luck, everything comes when you’re ready.

When the Student is Ready… – Pt 1
The Buddhist proverb goes, “when the student is ready, the teacher will appear”.
What does this mean?
Well before we look for meaning, notice how the quote refers to the teacher “appearing”, implying that there’s no need to go looking for the teacher, somehow, the teacher just appears.
How’s that possible?
It’s possible because when we’re open to the possibility of something new coming, we begin to “see” new things.
The “teacher” or what we need is already there, we just couldn’t see it before.
Think of it this way, a friend tells you about a new model car that they want to buy, all of a sudden you start to see this model everywhere. Did the cars just appear all of a sudden? No, you simply weren’t ready to see them yet.
Essentially, in any given moment, all possibilities exist at the same time so what we see needs to match our own internal reality.
In other words, when an idea floats through your head, your focus has the brain open up to the “possibility” of the idea becoming real. So situations then arise that seem as though they magically came along.

Movie Stars Syndrome – Pt 3
To sum it up, a “star” or TV personality is no different to any other human on the planet. All of us have bodily functions, eat, abide by the laws of gravity and will leave the body we inhabit one day.
To pretend that the person you are seeing on TV or the movie screen is any more special than you is to deny your true nature. You, are so amazing that you can choose to create the illusion of bondage in a massively abundant universe.
Ultimately it’s your journey to realise your Truth and what I think of you really doesn’t matter.
I trust that you will see how worthy and deserving you are of love, well-being, wealth and abundance and that you already have everything within you.
Much Love,

Movie Star Syndrome – Pt 2
To answer this, we need to understand how the mind works.
From the moment we’re born, the mind is absorbing the world through experiences and trying to work out who it is. From the billions of bits of information, the mind creates an identity for itself so that we can then say, … this is who I am.
The truth is that the mind doesn’t really “know” anything, it just has a perception it believes in order to create the illusion of safety.
Deep down, the mind feels this lack of substance and so is constantly looking for ways to create a better version of itself just in case it stumbles upon the Truth!
It’s for this reason that people hope that associating with a certain identities will add something to them.

Movie Stars Syndrome – Pt 1
Why is it that we place so much value on people like movie stars, rock stars and top sport people?
Pick your most respected star, lets say Oprah Winfrey and imagine her coming to your place for dinner, how does it feel?
Does it bring up anxiousness from having to impress her (i.e. to be worthy of receiving her in your home, that is to say, you don’t feel worthy)?
Or, Do you feel proud that such a popular person you is associated with you? In other words, does it bring up feelings of being “better” than other people because associating with a highly respected person “makes” you a respected person also?
In general, most people will have one of these two feelings, either a feeling of worthlessness or a feeling of superiority.
Very few people can genuinely relate with a beggar and a rock star with complete equality.
The question is why?

Thriving in “Recession”- Pt 5
In summary,
1. You have the appearance of something, that doesn’t feel good to you
2. You ask yourself, is this appearance the truth?
3. Do you know that with absolute 100% certainty? (In other words, is it possible that an alternative scenario exists?)
4. Chances are that you don’t know with certainty and an alternative scenario is always possible, so you come back and sit with, “I don’t know”.
5. Out of the “I don’t know” comes the opening for possibilities that goodness can come to you.
6. You begin to enjoy thoughts of exciting new possible futures and feel better about your prospects
7. You take action through inspiration (as opposed to desperation) and life starts to feel good.
8. New opportunities and fortuitous meetings begin to show up and you get back on track.
9. Life’s good, it always is.

Thriving in “Recession”- Pt 4
The answer is that it takes you to “I don’t know”. It’s not very comfortable at first to say that because we all like to think that we have all the answers and know where we’re going, but in truth, very few of us truly know anything at all. And that’s ok.
Having arrived at “I don’t know”, we are then free/open to the possibility of having a solution present itself. You may begin to have thoughts of exciting new possibilities that inspire you to try new things, take steps that you hadn’t previously considered, but it all start with allowing yourself to be “open to the possibility” of goodness to come to you. After all, all the abundance is still there, it’s just that a majority of people began to focus on the lack, instead of the abundance.
The bottom line is that you have a choice even though on the surface it seems that you don’t. The choice comes with being open to the possibilities that goodness CAN come to you regardless of what anyone else is going through. It all depends on what story you choose to tell yourself, and you do have the choice of telling yourself a story that feels great to you, if you just bring some awareness.
Tomorrow I’ll give you a summary of what’s been discussed here…

Thriving in “Recession”- Pt 3
Now that you have the awareness that all possibilities are in existence at the same time, YOU CAN CHOOSE to see that abundance is the order of the day and it all starts with being open to the possibility that you can have this reality.
So lets look at the practicalities of this, you say that you’re in debts and don’t have the money to pay for them, the appearance is that there’s not enough money to cover all the bills. Is that REAL? You may say, “Yes, it’s a fact that my bank account is bare”, but can you categorically, 100%, know that the money to cover the bills won’t show up? My guess is that you don’t know that absolutely, it’s simply a belief based on what you see in front of you. And a belief is just something you keep telling yourself that you have accepted as true.
So if you don’t know with absolute certainty that the money to cover your bills won’t show up, Where does that take you?
The answer tomorrow…

Thriving in “Recession”- Pt 2
So what exactly is REAL?
REAL, comes from the Spanish word “RE-AL”, meaning Royal (of the King) and if you think of a kingdom, what is “of the king”? Everything, and everyone, abides by the King. In this sense, your true Self is the king and the universe is Self’s kingdom.
So focusing on what’s real, means to focus on all possibilities existing at the same time and that YOU can choose to see whatever you want (this requires you to be aware of the thoughts that you have been taking as “real”).

Thriving in “Recession”- Pt 1
When you hear everyone talking about recession, it tends to bring up a feeling of negativity and one that generally doesn’t feel very good. So lets see if we can find a way to neutralise it.
To start things off lets look at the word “recession”. Economists have their definition, which really doesn’t mean much to most people but in reality, recession is a receding, a contraction or a becoming smaller in some way. It means there is the impression that less exists where before there was more.
If you think about in terms of the sea, the tide constantly moves, when the tide goes out, it gives the impression that the sea has receded. In reality though, the water has simply flowed elsewhere, there’s still an abundance of water that’s always there.
Knowing that a recession then, is simply an “appearance” of something becoming less, we can then focus on what is REAL.
More on this tomorrow…
